Job Overview

TYPICAL DUTIES
• Prepare appropriate application forms before the Departments of Homeland Security,
State, Justice, and Labor
• Prepare appropriate application forms before Immigration Courts
• Effectively communicate with clients to obtain and assemble documentation
• Keep clients informed of case status
• Prepare procedural information and document checklist for client
• Send out forms to make sure clients sign correctly
• Send letters and questionnaires to clients requesting information needed
• Assist attorney to review and prepare case documents in preparation for filing
• Closely review all package documentation and perform line-by-line review to ensure
document consistency, accuracy and is error-free
• Coordinate responses to clients to provide case-related responses
• Escalate issues to attorney when necessary
• Manage cases effectively to make sure deadlines are met
• Assist with initial client interview to obtain relevant case information,
• Review translations done by translation agency
• Prepare and update template documents
• Monitor, improve and suggest changes to workflow from time to time
• Administer case management system, and track case status on a regular basis
• Maintain electronic and hard copy filing system
• Act as liaison between client and third-party professionals to ensure all parties are informed of strategies and deadlines
• Provide timely case status updates to attorney and manage active caseload to ensure timely filing
• Manage firm calendars
• Review deadlines with Attorney to make sure they are calendared properly
• Complete case production within assigned budget and time allowance


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Fluent in English;
• Excellent writing skills in English
• ABILITY TO FOLLOW ATTORNEY’S INSTRUCTIONS
• Experience with CLIO Law Practice Management Software is a plus;
• Prior experience in immigration law firm preferred;
• Excellent telephone etiquette and verbal communication skills;
• Organized and process oriented;
• Extreme attention to detail is an absolute MUST;
• Professional demeanor;
• Punctuality, including meeting deadlines, and good attendance;
• Must be able to work well under pressure in a deadline driven environment;
• Proficient in use of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel);
• Ability to use office equipment (fax, copy machine, scanner, postage machine, etc.);
• Must handle job duties with utmost confidentiality;
• Critical thinking and problem-solving!
• Some college preferred;
• Knowledge and understanding of how the US Immigration process works is preferred;
• Ability to work/think independently and not depend on Attorney’s instructions for every matter is crucial;
• Excellent attitude and ability to interact with attorney, clients, and third parties;


Starting Salary is $350 per month (negotiable based on experience and skill)
Salary increases given based on work performance
