Summary

For over a year, I produced weather scripts for GMA Network’s primetime news program, 24 Oras, and other news telecast. I worked directly with GMA’s resident meteorologist, proposing story angles to him and brainstorming with him. As a broadcast writer, it was also part of my job to instruct and supervise a graphics artist in order to create and maintain a credible weather segment. The nature of this job trained me to be a quick but thorough thinker. It also enabled me to hone my skills in time management, thorough analysis, creative thinking, critical thinking, and fact-finding.

Before venturing into scriptwriting, I managed IMReady’s official Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as its web portal. As GMA Network’s advocacy campaign for public safety information, I was tasked to create online content related to weather, health, and lifestyle. I proposed and did rigorous research on various topics, making sure they were appropriate and appealing to the target audience. With the help of coworkers and of a friend, I also learned how to make infographics. These, among others, made IMReady’s social media presence more visually appealing and informative. In the course of my work, I was able to amass thousands of audience views and likes on Facebook. My interaction with followers also grew, especially during the typhoon season.
Indeed, being a social media producer in one of the top media organizations in the Philippines inspired me in finding innovative ways to stay relevant, newsworthy, and up-to-date.

Aside from office-based work, I also have sufficient experience in working at home. Before graduating from college, I was a content writer for an online platform where I composed press releases and product or service reviews. Years after, I did home-based work once again as an ESL teacher to Chinese children and adults enrolled in 51Talk. Teaching English to foreigners reminded me to be more patient and detail-oriented. These traits helped me correct grammar and structure more effectively, and helped me build the students’ self-confidence.

In addition, I have considerable background in admin work. As a past Philippine government employee, I arranged meetings with different agencies and served as secretary during these forums. I was also given the privilege to write a blog about government issues back in 2013. The blog was published on PTV News’ official website. In between breaks and during free time, I had the pleasure of creating my own blog, which mainly focused on creative writing. I posted my thoughts on
